Bryton Shang is an American entrepreneur known for his contributions to the aquaculture sector.[1] He is the founder and CEO of Aquabyte, a technology company focused on using computer vision and artificial intelligence (AI) to improve fish farming techniques.[2][3][4][5][1][6][7]

Early life and education[edit]

Bryton Shang received a Bachelor of Science in Engineering in Operations Research and Financial Engineering from Princeton University, completing his studies from 2009 to 2012.[2][3][4][8]

Career[edit]

Shang has led ventures like HistoWiz, a biotech firm, where he was CTO, developing deep learning algorithms for cancer diagnosis.[4][1][8][9]

He co-founded Nikao Investments, an algorithmic trading firm (2012–2013), and iQ License, a brand licensing platform (2013–2015).[4][8][9]

Shang's aquatech startup has secured $48 million since its founding in 2017.[10]

Aquabyte[edit]

Aquabyte is a technology company established by Bryton Shang in 2017, specializing in the application of computer vision technology to the aquaculture sector.[5] The software is developed to analyze images from fish pens, providing insights into fish health and optimizing growth.[5][9]

The company operates in Silicon Valley, California, and Bergen, Norway, with a focus on the salmon and trout industry.[2][4][5][10][11][9][12]
