Bulgarians in Sweden are an ethnic group that is not present in the country's population census. According to data from the Central Statistical Office , the number of Bulgarian citizens in the country in 2016 was 9,105.
History[edit]
The history of Bulgarians in Sweden dates back several decades. Migration from Bulgaria to Sweden increased notably during the late 20th century, primarily due to economic opportunities and political changes. Many Bulgarians initially arrived as guest workers, and later, some settled in Sweden permanently.
In the 1990s, with the fall of communism in Bulgaria, a significant number of Bulgarians sought better living conditions in Sweden. Over the years, the Bulgarian community has grown, contributing to the cultural diversity of Sweden. Bulgarians in Sweden are involved in various professions, including education, healthcare, and business.
