From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

Butakov Bay is a bay in the northern part of the Small Aral Sea. It's located between the two peninsulas of Shubartarauz and Koktyrnak.[citation needed] The bay is 20 km long and 3 km wide. The cold climate prevails mainly. The average annual temperature in the region is 9 °C. According to 2005 data, the salinity in the bay is 24-27 g/l, which is significantly higher than in the Northern Aral Sea.[1] As a result of the study of bottom organisms in 1997, many organisms characteristic of the Aral Sea were discovered.[citation needed]
