Draft:Cửu Trùng Đài

From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

The Cửu Trùng Đài (Chinese: 九重臺; pinyin: Jiuchongtai; trans. "Nine-Levelled Tower") is the name that posterity gave to an architectural work built on the banks of West Lake in 1516-1517 under the reign of Lê Tương Dực. The architect and foreman of this building is named Vũ Như Tô. This is considered the main cause of the overthrow and death of Lê Tương Dực because the construction of the palace made the people toil hard, making the people dissatisfied, creating the seeds for renegade Trịnh Duy Sản to cause a mutiny.[1] The building was burned down while still under construction.
