Canon VL is a lens mount for Hi-8 Analog Tape Camcorders from Canon. It was introduced in March 1991 with the Canon L1 camcorder. It was the fist interchangeable camcorder lens system. The VL mount was in turn replaced in 1998 by the XL Mount from the Canon XL1. They are most likely not compatible as the VL mount was designed for 1/2" sensors^[1] while the XL Mount is for 1/3"^[2]

VL Mount Accesories[edit]

Extender CL 2X[edit]

The extender can be put between any VL mount lens or lens adapter and the camera to double the magnification.^[5] It originally came with a buttoned carrying pouch made of a leather-like material.

EOS Adapter VL[edit]

The EOS Adapter VL mounts onto any VL mount camera and enables usage of Canon EF Mount Lenses with a 5.4X focal length multiplication.^[5] It uses a 2CR5 Battery to power it, most likely to convert the signaling between the camera and lens. It originally came with a buttoned carrying pouch made of a leather-like material.
