- Comment: Hi, we require a handful (about five or six minimum, usually) of secondary sources. That doesn't include self-published info from, say, the company's website, nor does it include PR releases. Ideally the sources are from places that are green on WP:RSP and they discuss Capacity.com in depth, not just a passing mention. Let me know if you have any questions. Thanks! Capacity.com is a support automation platform based in St. Louis, Missouri. The company offers a wide variety of helpdesk, chatbot and generative AI solutions. The company is headquartered in the Delmar Loop and has a mission to "help teams do their best work" and is part of the Equity.com[1] incubator. The company was listed in the top 50 of America's Best Startup Employers by Forbes in 2023.
History[edit]
Capacity was founded as AI Software LLC on January 2, 2017 by serial entrepreneurs and Washington University alums David Karandish and Chris Sims. After selling his previous company to private equity, Karandish set out to start a new venture. In the 2016 holiday season, the top selling item on Amazon was Amazon's Echo Dot[2] powered by Alexa. Karandish wanted to add similar functionality but instead of an AI focsed on B2C, Karandish focused on a B2B bot.
He initially built a Slack bot as a prototype to showcase how natural language could be used within an HR environment. Within the first year of launch, the company began attracting clients in the mortgage space and has continued to branch out into other industries. Initially, the company operated Jane.ai (the Joy of Accessing Nearly Everything) but rebranded to Capacity in 2019. The company has raised multiple funding rounds[3] and acquired multiple companies.
Platform[edit]
Capacity is a software-as-a-service platform that allows companies to automate internal operations (HR, IT) as well as customer facing operations (Marketing, Sales, Customer Support) with approximately 2000 customers[4]. The company works with clients in multiple industries including the financial services, healthcare and contact center space.
Philanthropy[edit]
Capacity shares office space and provides volunteers for Karandish and Sims' non profit Create a Loop[5], which teaches kids computer science regardless of economic background.
