Blessed Godsbrain Smart, popularly known as Captain Smart is a Ghanaian radio and television personality who works with Media General..[1]. He left Multimedia"s subsidiary Adom Tv in 2019[2][3]. He is now the host of Onua Maakye[1]. He is also a political activist who is known for addressing political issues.[4]

Early Life[edit]

Captain Smart was born on 5th May, 1975 in one of the small towns in the Eastern Region of Ghana.[5] He grew up in Central Region where he completed his secondary school[6]

Education[edit]

Blessed Godsbrain Smart attended JHS in his hometown after which he got admission to the Apam Senior High School in the Central Region of Ghana. He continued his education at the Garden City University College (GCUC) in Kumasi where he earned diploma and degree in mass communication.[5]

Career[edit]

Captain Smart's career started at FOX Fm in Kumasi, after which he joined OTEC FM, Kesewa Radio and later moved to join the Multimedia Group Limited. At Multimedia, he started a show dubbed Fabewoso.[7] After leaving Multimedia in 2020, he joined the Angel Broadcasting Network and got suspended on 5th May, 2021.

In 2021, officers from the National Security Operatives arrested Captain Smart from his house after they alleged he made an unacceptable comment on live television during his Onua Maakye Show.[8]

The National Media Commission also warned him in 2022 to withdraw the insults he made on live television, render an apology to the Chief of Defense Staff and also apologize to Ghanaians[9]

He was also outdoored and welcomed by the leaders of the Convention People's Party (CPP) in 2023 after he joined the party and became a member in 2006 and lost the Ashanti Regional Chairman position in 2007 after he contested.[10]
