Carl the Collector is an upcoming animated children’s television series created by Zachariah OHora that is set to premiere in Fall 2024 on PBS Kids. The series follows a raccoon named Carl who loves collecting things. The series is produced by Fuzzytown Productions and Spiffy Pictures with Yowza! Animation handling the animation. This is the first animated series from PBS Kids to be lead by an autistic character.

Premise[edit]

Carl the Collector is an animted series following the adventures of Carl, an autistic raccoon who is smart and energetic. However, Carl struggles with anxiety in new situations and when things don’t go according to plan. He has a huge collection of things from the perfect fake mustache for a disguise, to a soft plushie when a friend is in need. He helps to solve whatever problems with her unlikely best friends.

Production[edit]

It was announced in November 2023 that PBS Kids had greenlit Carl the Collector, a brand-new animated series from Fuzzytown Productions and Spiffy Pictures. The series comes fromZachariah OHora, a New York Times bestselling children's author. It is also the first animated series to feature a cast of characters who are on the autism spectrum.

Spiffy Pictures co-founder Adam Rudman is working on scripts as head writer, and OHora is set to executive produce the series. Advisors on board include Dr. Geraldine Oades-Sese, a licensed child psychologist and kids book author; and Stephen Shore, an autistic professor of special education at New York’s Adelphi University.

Animation[edit]

Canadian studio Yowza! Animation is set to handle the animation for the series.
