From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

Carly Bigi is an American technology entrepreneur and investor best known as the founder of Laws of Motion.

Early life and education[edit]

Carly holds a Bachelors of Science degree in Human and Organizational Development and Financial Economics from Vanderbilt University and an MBA from Columbia Business School[1].

Career[edit]

Deloitte Consulting[edit]

From 2012-2015, Bigi worked at Deloitte Consulting in Chicago, IL.[2][3]

Laws of Motion[edit]

In 2017, after graduating from Columbia Business School[4], Bigi launched[5] Laws of Motion, a startup that provides virtual sizing technology for the apparel industry.

Laws of Motion predicts customer body measurements virtually.[6] The technology provides real-time metrics reporting about its impact to return rate, conversion rate, and average order value.[citation needed]

Laws of Motion’s AI sizing technology was incubated in the direct-to-consumer womenswear brand.[7]

In 2020, Laws of Motion was named as Best Breakthrough Startup by Glossy Magazine[8].

The Hero Initiative[edit]

In March 2020, while sick with Covid-19, Bigi pivoted Laws of Motion’s supply chain to produce personal protective equipment (PPE) to support Covid-19 emergency response efforts.[9]

In 2020, Bigi and her team produced over five millions pieces of single-use PPE for state governments and the Department of Defense, and donated over one million masks to communities and front-line providers in need.[10]

In 2020, Laws of Motion produced and delivered 2.4 million single-use medical gowns to New York State in response to the request for emergency response support for Covid-19.[11]. Upon receipt and use of the product, New York State withheld payment of $10.45M. Bigi responded by trying to resolve the situation, ultimately suing the state[12] for breach of contract for nonpayment.[citation needed]

Columbia Business School[edit]

Bigi is an adjunct lecturer at Columbia Business School[citation needed] and teaches a published case about Laws of Motion in Entrepreneurial Strategy.[13]

Philanthropy[edit]

Bigi is a mentor for the non-profit Aspire to Her, a community for young business women.[14]
