Caroline Howze Milton (1826 - 1901) was a First Lady of Florida married to John Milton[1] and mother of ten children who was twice married. Her second husband, Florida governor John Milton killed himself as the Confederacy's loss in the American Civil War became imminent. She lived at their Sylvannia plantation in Jackson County, Florida and raise their children.

John Milton's first wife Susan Amanda Cobb died and he left Georgia after shooting a man he had a political and personal feud with in the back.[2] He returned to Alabama pursuing his legal career and married Caroline Howze in 1844.[3] By 1860 John Milton owned 7,000 acres and 52 enslaved persons.[4]

She was from Alabama.[5]

She and Milton had two sons and seven daughters.[6] Her children included frontier lawman Jefferson Davis Milton (Jeff Milton).
