Cogo Connecting Good Limited is a privately owned New Zealand-based company, specialising in carbon footprint calculators. It was founded in February 2010 by Ben Gleisner under the name Conscious Consumers and was renamed to Cogo in April 2016.[1] In 2019, it achieved the B Corp certification and in the same year released an iOS and Android app using open banking to connect consumers' bank accounts to its carbon footprint calculators.[2]
In April 2021, the company pivoted away from a consumer-targeted approach and started partnering with banks instead. Currently, around a dozen banks globally have integrated Cogo's carbon footprint calculator into the banking apps. The best known banking partners are NatWest in the United Kingdom and Commonwealth Bank in Australia.
In October 2021, Cogo sought to raise $20m in investment to fuel further expansion.[3] Until June 2023, it only managed to raise $1m, however.[4]
In December 2023, Cogo and Moneyhub announced a partnership for the development of "ethical and sustainable financial wellbeing products".[5]
The iOS app is no longer available, while the Android app is still in the Google Play Store but is no longer being updated.
