Curity is a Swedish identity management company established in 2015 by Travis Spencer, Jacob Ideskog, Stefan Nilsson, and Simon Andersson[1][2]. It is headquartered in Stockholm, Sweden and also has offices in Vårgårda and Austin, Texas[3]. It provides a cybersecurity software that helps companies secure access to digital services, such as applications, websites and devices. The solutions are natively built and tailored to support enterprises' increasingly complex data and system access use cases with industry-wide identity and security-related standards, such as OAuth and OpenID Connect.[4]

The company’s flagship product, the Curity Identity Server, combines Customer Identity Access Management (CIAM) and API Security.[5] The Curity Identity Server is built using established security standards such as OAuth, OpenID Connect, and SCIM to promote interoperability and to make it easier for clients to deploy necessary new features.[6] It enables organizations to focus on product development and improving customer experiences instead of developing identity infrastructure in-house.[7]

Curity's solutions are similar to identity management system tools provided by Okta and Ping Identity. The company is addressing the rising need for access security as the decentralized identity trend continues to grow.[8] Curity's technologies are valued by large organizations in financial services, telecoms, retail, energy, government services, and other sectors that require enterprise-grade API access security.[9]

Curity is also the creator of OAuth Tools, an online OAuth laboratory. The OAuth Tools website and app is free to use, and can be used by API developers to test different OAuth flows.

Curity supports Nordic APIs, a global community of API enthusiasts. Nordic APIs produces and publishes blog posts on topics such as API security, business models, marketing, design, and other API-related subjects.[10] With Curity's help, Nordic APIs hosts annual API conferences in Stockholm, Sweden and in Austin, Texas, USA.

Curity was co-founded in 2015 by Travis Spencer, Jacob Ideskog, Stefan Nilsson, and Simon Andersson, who previously worked together at various companies.

Curity received its first external funding from a syndicate of angel investors in 2017.

In 2018, Curity certified that the Curity Identity Server conformed to the OpenID Connect protocol from the OpenID Foundation.[11]

In 2019, the company raised capital from Fairpoint Capital.[12]

Later in 2023, Curity secured additional funding from GRO Capital[13][14] of an undisclosed amount. Curity sought the investment to facilitate product innovation and accelerate international expansion.[15]

The features and capabilities of the Curity Identity Server include Multi-factor Authentication, Single Sign-On (SSO), Customer Identity and Access Management, API Access Control, Passwordless Authentication, Zero Trust Architecture, Financial-grade API security, OAuth 2.0 Authorization Server, Claims & Scope Management, Hypermedia Authentication API, and YubiHSM integration.[16]

In 2020, Curity won a 2020 API Award in the Best in API Security category with OAuth Tools.[17]In 2022, Curity was awarded as Best Presenter in Tech at the Florida Venture Summit. In 2024, Curity’s Financial-grade API (FAPI) package won the 2024 DEVIES Award in the Financial category.[18]
