Draft:Daddy T Japan

Early Life

Born Ronald Fuller Teal, Daddy T Japan was born in Philadelphia on August 7, 1982, to his mother Donna Teal and father Richard Teal. He is one of 12 children with 5 brothers and 6 sisters. He attended Aldan Elementary School located in the William Penn School District as a child because his father didn't want his children going to school in Philadelphia. He was one of few black children in that school and had to deal with racism early on as a child. Once particular incident was during a Halloween party at school in the late 80s where he and his siblings weren't allowed to attend because they claimed they didn't pay the fee to attend the party. 5 dollars per child. They were placed in a small room with the door locked. Ron banged loudly as the other kids played and had a good time contesting that he did pay with the 20 dollars his mother gave him. Parents demanded that the door be opened, and the principle asked what was going on and the teacher that put them in the room stated that they didn't pay for the party even though he gave the money to her. They were allowed to attend, and he put on the knight outfit he made the knight before out of a cardboard box he got from Path Mark. After his father's death in 1990 he and his siblings were forced back into the Philadelphia school system where he attended Shoemaker Middle School. His life was not an easy one. His mother Donna held down a home with 12 children on her own. Like most kids he was bullied constantly, having to fight almost every day. He was teased because is his academic skills and had to prove that he belonged there even though he lived 5 blocks away. His mother Donna put Ron and his brother in Tae Kwon Do class where he stayed for two years winning multiple titles in forms and fighting. Teachers started to take notice of his academic prowess and suggested that he went to a charter school. Ron took a placement exam and went to Amy Middle School. He stayed there until he graduated and went onto high school at Parkway Northwest located on Germantown Avenue in Philadelphia. His grades started to slip becoming a rebellious teenager, listening to rock and rap. Exercising and idolizing martial artists like Bruce Lee, Van Damme, Jackie Chan , Jim Kelly and others. He was very aware of how the world operated and how to make money because he's had a job since he was 13, bagging groceries at Sunshine Food Market across from Overbrook High School or shoveling pavements in the snow with his brothers. He quickly grew to love money but knew he would have to do something drastic to make it out of poverty. So, he joined the US Navy at the suggestion of a friend.

Military career

Ron enlisted in the US Navy in 1999 and was in MEPS training and officially went into the navy in June 2000. He went to boot camp in "Great Mistakes" Great Lakes Illinois. Where he was in division 422. As a young man he met men older than him from all walks of life. He even met a grown man that didn't know how to iron his own clothes. Ron taught him and others the little skills he knew as a 17-year-old but quickly realized the respect he was given by others for teaching things he simply was taught by his mother. Whenever the opportunity arose to be a leader, Ron would quickly fill that role. He then went on to A School to learn his job as a radioman/IT specialist in the Navy. The teacher told the class that whoever places first in the class gets their first pick at orders around the world. Ron wanted to go to Japan badly. He watched anime since the late 80s citing Fist of the North Star as his first anime. Dragon ball, Berserk and others where he favorite anime and he desperately wanted to see Japan for himself. Other kids bragged about their computer experience to sway others from trying too hard to place in 1st. Ron saw it as a challenge and knew that deep down that he was mentally tougher than all of them. Even though he had 0 experience with computers and the internet at that time, he placed first in his class and held that position until it was time to pick orders. He found a billet located in Yokosuka Japan for a ship called the USS Vandergrift. He had no idea where it was but it said Japan and so he took it.

Life in Japan

Ron went to Japan in February 2001. He served onboard the USS Vandergrift for almost 5 years on tours to include Operation Enduring Freedom and Operation Iraqi Freedom. He then worked two duty stations on land then left the military with an honorable discharge in 2008. Ron got a job in Okinawa to leave Tokyo during the recession of 2008. He eventually met his wife Maki there. After coming back to mainland Japan and having a child, he bought a Ford for his wife. At the time there were Ford dealerships in Japan. One day the car broke down and Ford ended support for vehicles in Japan. He needed help working on his car but couldn’t get any. He figured out how to do some things on the car himself then decided to make a video about it on YouTube. It helped a lot of people. It made him feel good helping people. While at work people would constantly ask him for places to go and how to do things in Japan which prompted him to start making videos for people that live in Japan as opposed to videos for solely tourists like most channels. He currently lives in Japan with his wife and 4 children whom he teaches English, math, science and Brazilian Jujitsu to everyday.
