Dana Qaddah (born 1996, Beirut, Lebanon) is an interdisciplinary artist based on the unceded territories of the Coast Salish peoples: Musqueam, Squamish, and Tsleil-Waututh nations where they completed their BFA at the Emily Carr University of Art and Design (ECUAD).[1][2]
Artistic career[edit]
Qaddah's practice focuses on the expression of fragmentation of identities, particularly between the Arab and Western worlds.[1] A constant theme in her work is the idea of generational displacement. This is presented by the abstraction and destruction of one's sense of being.[2] In the exhibition, The Willful Plot, displayed at the Morris and Helen Belkin Art Gallery, her work presents images of gardens as a "site of tension between wild and cultivated...public and private, and sovereign and colonized."[3] Qaddah's contributions to the exhibition focused on rooftops in Beirut where these are a locations for vegetation and for social gatherings.[3]
Qaddah participated in Plug In ICA's Summer Institute II: BUSH gallery in 2018.[4] In 2019, Qaddah was the artist in residence for PLOT, hosted by Access Gallery in Vancouver, British Columbia.[4]

- The Neighbor's Plate (November 28, 2020 – January 17, 2021) was a group exhibition at Unit 17 that included artists Derya Akay, Amna Elnour, and Dana Qaddah.[5]
- Willful Plot (January 13, 2023 – April 16, 2023) was a group exhibition at the Morris and Helen Belkin Art Gallery, featuring artists, Derya Akay, Vivienne Bessette, Gabi Dao, Derek Jarman, Charmian Johnson, Glenn Lewis,Mike MacDonald, Rehab Nazzal, and Dana Qaddah.[6]

Curated exhibitions[edit]
- The Upper Side of the Sky (October 12, 2020 – April 30, 2021) was an online exhibition that functioned as a virtual reality archive of the ruins at Palmyra, Syria, a project created by artist Jawa El Khash.[2]
