The Davao City Bypass Road Project is bypass road with a total length of 45.5 kilometers will begin in Barangay Sirawan, Toril, Davao

City and will end at Barangay J.P. Laurel, Panabo City. It will improve the transport logistics with usual travel time of 1 hour and 44 minutes via Maharlika Highway to be reduced to 49 minutes. [1]

The total cost increased to PHP70.8 billion which is financed by a loan agreement between the Government of the Philippines and the Japan International Cooperation Agency (JICA). The changes will also involve extending the implementation period until December 31, 2027.[2]

A key feature is the first-ever long-distance mountain tunnel in the Philippines spanning 2.3km.

Phases[edit]

The Davao City Bypass Construction Project is being undertaken in phases.

Package I-1[edit]

The 10.7-km Contract Package I-1 is now undergoing construction. Financed by a loan from the JICA, this portion includes construction of seven bridges with an aggregate length of 1.26 kilometers, including the two-tubed mountain tunnel project.

Package II-1[edit]

Contract Package II-1, funded by the Philippine government, has a cumulative accomplishment rate of 27%. This package focuses on the construction of seven bridges with a total length of 2.54 kilometers.

Package II-2[edit]

Finally, Contract Package II-2 covers a total length of 3.52 kilometers comprising 2.5 kilometers of a four-lane road section, seven bridges with an aggregate length of 1.015 kilometers, and three overpass bridges.[3]
