David’s Garden Seeds is a garden seed company based in Poteet Texas. They sell heirloom seeds for vegetables, fruits, herbs, flowers, grains, and cover crops. They also sell various gardening products like germination kits, germination soil, small pots, and gardening equipment as well as fresh chicken eggs and pecan flavored whole bean coffee. They primarily sell online at their website and their Amazon store. They also have a physical store in Poteet, Texas.

David’s Garden Seeds was founded in 2009 by David Schulze. Up until the time that he started the company, he was a home gardener. After coming back from Afghanistan, he soon began selling seeds using Amazon. Not long after this, he decided to start David's Garden Seeds and found success selling seeds online. He and his wife built their own website. They started with vegetable seeds, and after having success, they expanded to offering flower, herb, and fruit seeds. During this period, they were based in San Antonio Texas, and sold only online using their website and Amazon to grow their business. In 2014 they began selling at Traders Village creating their first walk in shop within the flea market.

This however brought mixed results and in 2015, after a year of selling at Traders Village, they opened their first physical store in San Antonio. They remained there for five years, starting off in a smaller office and eventually moving into a larger one next door to their first location while the company grew.

In 2019 they made the decision to open a farm store out in the country and began to search for land for this new endeavor and found a plot of land in Poteet. They bought the land and started making plans to move the business out to the new land

In 2020, they shutdown their San Antonio facilities and opened new and larger facilities in Poteet, Texas. During this time, they expanded the company and built a brand-new store, creating a country style theme for their new physical Farm Store, located in the countryside setting in Rossvile, near Poteet. They also built a farm, including a greenhouse, multiple hoop houses, raised garden beds, and growing areas, a full size chicken coop and a rabbit hutch, and an orchard. They began offering tours for those who visited their new physical location. They also built gazebo outside their farm store with a pond which contains koi-fish and gold-fish.

In 2023 they expanded and put up another chicken coop to support their increased number of chickens. With this expansion they increased their egg production and also added roosters to their coops to begin breeding their own chickens. They currently of eight different types of chickens on their farms and offer a variety of various colored eggs.

Along with their new facilities they built a commercial kitchen in which they began producing canned goods, and various farm grown items like gourds. They offer various classes on planting, canning, and cooking garden fresh meals.

In 2022 David's Garden Seeds took part in the Poteet Strawberry Festival auction partnering up with HEB on one bid for flats of strawberries. They won the bid and David's Garden Seeds and HEB each took half of the flat. The money went to scholarships for high school students in the Poteet Texas area.

Charitable Activity[edit]

David's Garden Seeds has taken part in many different charitable organizations over the years since its founding. It helped in donating seeds and planting them at Gardopia Gardens. It has also provided various services to various churches in the local Texas area and has donated many seeds to organizations like the San Antonio Food Bank and Austin Seed Libraries. They have donated seeds to various schools around the country and speak for no cost at local garden clubs, as well as hosting local garden clubs when they visit David's Garden Seeds Farm.

Since it's found in 2009, David's Garden Seeds has Offered a variety of products ranging from its main product, gardening seeds, to gardening equipment and more.

Garden Seeds

David's Garden Seeds initially offered vegetable seeds, and then after a short time of having success with these they added flowers, herbs, fruits, and cover-crops to their stores and grew to eventually have over one thousand varieties of seeds, selling them in their physical stores and across the United States.

Gardening Accessories

Eventually they began offering various gardening accessories like trellis clips and germination kits in which they sold trays, pots, labels, and germination dirt packaged together as a way to offer a quick start kit to gardeners whether new or experienced. They also began selling farmed luffa gourds and birdhouse gourds as crafting items, these are grown on their farm. They also offer rabbit manure.

Canned Goods

For a brief time they offered various pickled and canned goods like carrots, beans, and other food items. These we grown on their farm and then prepared in their commercial kitchen. In 2022, however, they stopped offering these products due to production costs.
