Devaswom Board Pampa College, also known as D.B. Pampa College, is a prestigious educational institution established in 1968. Located in the picturesque setting on the banks of the Holy River Pampa in Kadapra Panchayat, Thiruvalla Taluk, Pathanamthitta district, Kerala, India, the college is managed by the Travancore Devaswom Board.
History[edit]
The college was founded during the tenure of the second ministry of Sri E.M.S. Nampoothirippadu. Sri. P.K. Chandranandan, a member of the Travancore Devaswom Board, played a pivotal role in initiating the establishment of the college[1]. With the support of local social and political figures such as Shri P.G. Purushothaman Pillai, the then MLA of Chengannur, Mannar K K Chandrasekharan Pillai Vaidhyan, Parumala Appukuttan Aadissar, Khadi Chellappan Nair, Ramabhadran Nair, Araykkal Sadasivan Pillai, Kottaykkal Sreedharan Pillai, M.P. Raghavan Nair Mulavana, P.A. Azeez Kunju, among others, funds were raised from the community for the college's initial operations.
The college started with a modest working capital of Rs 500/- donated by the Pavukkara Pulayar Karayogam. Contributions from the Parumala Church, Muslim Jamayat, Mannar, and Thrikkuratti Temple also played a significant role in supporting the college.
Academics and Progress[edit]
Initially established as a junior college, D.B. Pampa College became a Degree College in 1978 and later a Post Graduate College in 1984. Today, the college is affiliated with Mahatma Gandhi University, Kottayam. It offers eight undergraduate and four postgraduate courses.
Accreditation and Achievements[edit]
The college was accredited by NAAC in 2003 and continues to maintain its high academic standards. Students from the college have consistently excelled in university examinations, securing top positions.
