"Down Below" is a song by American rapper Roddy Ricch from his second commercial mixtape Feed Tha Streets ll (2018). The song was written by Roddy Ricch himself, along with Scott Storch who also produced the song alongside Avedon.
Composition[edit]
On "Down Below", Ricch raps about difficult times growing up in the cities Compton and Los Angeles. Saying lyrics like "Member them cold nights, I was sleepin' on the floor / Always dreamed about the Forgiato feet, now they down below / A n***a got so much money on me, I can't count no more".[1]
Critical reception[edit]
The song received very little bad reviews from critics and most critics loved the song. Complex's Eric Shelton said the song was great soulful vocal delivery on the tracks "Die Young" and "Down Below". Eric Shelton continued to praise Ricch by saying "Roddy Ricch is part of a generation of rappers who put a much larger emphasis on melody than those who came before them".[2]
Music video[edit]
The official music video for the song was released alongside "Down Below" on November 2, 2018. It sees Ricch in parts of Downtown Compton with some of his friends, and later in the video he is seen around basketball courts and housing authoritys.[3]
Live performances[edit]
On December 16, 2019, Ricch preformed the song live for Audiomack as a trap symphony version.[4]
