Dr. Sandor G. Vari received an MD degree in 1978 at Semmelweis Medical University, Budapest and worked as surgeon. In 1989 he received Fulbright Scholarship and his research included biotechnology/biomedical photonics at Cedars-Sinai Medical Center, LA, CA, USA. In 1994 he worked part time at FORTH, Greece and in1995-1997 at the LMT gGmbh, Berlin. He received several research grants from NIH, DOD, DOC- USA & EU FP 4-5. In 2002 Dr. Vari established the International Research and Innovation in Medicine (IRIM) Program at CSMC. Last 15 years he is managing Reproductive and Child Health research projects. In 2006 Dr. Vari organized the Regional Cooperation for Health, Science and Technology (RECOOP HST) Consortium with Cedars–Sinai Medical Center and eleven Central and Eastern European (CEE) universities and academic organizations from seven countries. In 2011 twenty universities and research organizations were members or associate members of the Consortium. In 2014 the RECOOP HST Consortium was converted into an Association.
In the last thirty years, I am working at the same place, at Cedars-Sinai Medical Center, LA, CA, USA. In the last 15 years I am the Director of IRIM Program at CSMC and President of Regional Cooperation for Health, Science and Technology (RECOOP HST) Association https://www.cedars-sinai.org/research/administration/recoop.html The Association’s main goal is to enhance research collaboration and provide platforms for scientific networking in life sciences within CEE Countries and Cross – Atlantic. In 2020 RECOOP implemented several COVID -19 investigations in RECOOP. We developed SARS-CoV-2 Saliva Antibody Test. Investigating the cross-reactive immunity between HCoVs and the SARS-CoV-2. Running a project for COVID–19 disease during pregnancy. We completed a chronic stress study with COVID-19 lockdown of 800 students. We are investigating the stress effects of infected seropositive patients, and health care workers and mental health complications. Studying the effects of high blood pressure medications (ACEI &ARBs) after COVID disease, also Vascular Dysfunction in COVID-19 disease and Changes in coagulation factors’ glycoprotein.
