Driversnote is a Danish software company headquartered in Copenhagen that develops a mileage tracking mobile app of the same name. The company provides users with software and hardware for logging driving information, such as routes driven, trip purpose, locations visited and distance traveled. Driversnote has over 2 million users[1] across more than 150 countries.[2]

History and ownership[edit]

Driversnote was founded in Copenhagen, Denmark, in 2013 and incorporated in 2014. Jonas Åradsson and Martin Poulsen, who currently serve as CXO and CEO, respectively, are credited as founders.[3] Driversnote is bootstrapped, remaining fully self-owned and self-funded since its inception.[1]

Business model and growth[edit]

Driversnote is a SaaS company, whose revenue comes from paid subscriptions.

The founders tout a product-led approach to growth. Driversnote has seen user growth since its launch:

  • Driversnote reportedly had 700,000 users in November, 2020[2]
  • Driversnote celebrated 2,000,000 global users in September, 2023[1]

Products and services[edit]

Mileage tracking and reporting[edit]

Driversnote enables users to log their mileage and generate mileage reports from their log books. The app facilitates direct sharing of these reports with approvers and accountants.

Software: Mileage tracking app for mobile and web[edit]

The Driversnote app is available for download for free on Apple App Store and Google Play, and is also accessible in a web browser. It assists users in tracking trips and adhering to employer or government-set reimbursement rates and rules.

Hardware: Driversnote iBeacon[edit]

The Driversnote iBeacon is a small Bluetooth device that, when placed in a vehicle, pairs with a phone’s tracking capabilities to track trips made in that car automatically. Trips tracked in this way can also be automatically labeled as either business or personal.[4]

Driversnote for companies[edit]

In 2020, Driversnote launched software for companies called Teams.[2] Teams is a version of the mileage tracking solution designed to accommodate the needs of more than just a single user. It enables employees to submit their mileage reports to team managers for review and approval.
