Mixed martial arts career[edit]

Combate Americas/Global[edit]

On March 30, 2017, Chairez faced Oscar Quintero at Combate Americas 12. He won the fight via first-round submission.[1] Three months later, on June 30, Chairez faced Erick Villaluz Orellano at Combate Americas 15. He won the fight via submission in just 18 seconds.[2]

Chairez faced Alan Cantu Garcia on May 18, 2018, at Combate Americas: Mexico vs. The world. He won the fight via technical knockout following a spinning elbow.[3] On October 28, Chairez faced Axel Osuna at Combate Americas: The Battle of Guadalajara. He lost the fight via submission.[4]

Chairez faced Alejandro Salazar on February 8, 2019, at Combate Americas 30. He won the fight by submission in the first round, as in his previous victories.[5] On September 20, Chairez faced Alberto Trujillo at Combate Americas: Garcia vs. Gonzalez. He lost the fight via unanimous decision.[6]

Chairez faced David Macias Ruiz on February 21, 2020, at Combate Americas: Garcia vs. Bandenay. He won the fight via submission.[7]

On April 9, 2021, Chairez had his last fight in the renowned Combate Global against Mefi Monterroso at Combate Global: Chairez vs. Monterroso. He won the fight via technical knockout in just 10 seconds.[8]

Dana White's Contender Series[edit]

Chairez was invited to participate in the sixth season (third episode) of Dana White's Contender Series. He faced Clayton Carpenter, losing the fight by unanimous decision. However, his performance in the cage was enough to give him the opportunity to sign for the UFC.[9]

Ultimate Fighting Championship[edit]

Chairez debuted in the UFC on July 8, 2023, at UFC 290, facing Japan's Tatsuro Taira in a 130-pound catchweight bout.[10] He lost the fight via unanimous decision.[11]

Chairez faced Daniel Lacerda on September 16, 2023, at UFC Fight Night 227. He had initially won the fight after submitting Lacerda via anaconda choke, but the result was changed to a no contest after a referee error, which attracted controversy.[12]

Chairez was expected to face Daniel Lacerda again at UFC Fight Night 230, but the fight was canceled due to Lacerda's medical issues after the weigh-in. The rematch was rescheduled for February 24, 2024 at UFC Fight Night 237. At the weigh ins, both fighters missed weight; Chairez weighed in at 131 pounds and Lacerda at 127 pounds, five pounds and one pound over the flyweight non-title fight limit, respectively. The fight continued at a catchweight, and Chairez managed to take the victory via submission in the first round.
