Elizabeth Jane Alividza is a Ugandan lawyer and judge[1], on the High Court of Uganda. She is a member of The International Association of Women Judges of Uganda (IAWJ-U)[2]a non-governmental membership organization composed of 86 to 180 female Judicial Officers in Uganda[3]. She was part of the women that advocated to have a female Chief Justice to promote gender parity within the judicial top brass.[4]

Background and Education[edit]

Alividza is a an external PhD candidate at the Van Vollenhoven Institute, Leiden University. Her Research is about How to address mal performance with the Ugandan Judiciary: Causes, Consequences and Possible Remedies.[5]

Judicial Career[edit]

She was redeployed by the Principal Judge Flavian Zeija on 5th October 2021 to the International Crimes Division Court [1] duties commenced on the 8th November 2021.

Notable Judicial[edit]

On 30 July,2014, Alividza passed judgement on Susan Kigula and others verses Attorney General case, upon hearing both parties, she sentenced the appellant to 40 years imprisonment after considering almost the 14yeras which the appellant had spent in custody.[6] She stepped down from hearing a case in which Mr Sudhri Ruparelia sued Sebalu and Lule Advocates seeking to stop them from representing dfcu Bank which he had sued following the takeover of Crane Bank after it was closed by the Central Bank in 2016.[7]
