Overview[edit]
The Eltanin Class was a class of cargo ship with ice-breaking hull built by Avondale Marine Ways, Inc. Both were acquired by the U.S. Navy in 1957, and operated in a non-commissioned status. Two ships were built in 1957, and both entered into service with the navy in 1958. The ships are named after stars in the Draco constellation.
