Emma Sears is an American professional soccer player who plays as a forward for Racing Louisville FC of the National Women's Soccer League. She played college soccer for the Ohio State Buckeyes before being drafted in the second round of the 2024 NWSL Draft.[2]

Early life[edit]

Sears was born in New Brunswick, New Jersey,[3] and lived in both England and Laguna Beach, California before moving to Dublin, Ohio. Sears attended Dublin Jerome High School where she was a four-year letterwinner and three-year starter for the women's soccer team.[4] She was named first team All-Ohio after both her junior and senior seasons.[5] Sears played club soccer for Ohio Premier.

College career[edit]

Sears attended the Ohio State University and featured in 83 matches from 2019–2023 for their women's soccer team. She scored 25 goals and tallied 15 assists in total for the Buckeyes.[6] Sears was an second team All-Big Ten honoree in Spring 2021 and 2022,[7][8] and a first team All-Big Ten honoree in 2023.[9] She graduated in 2023 with a degree in health science.[10]

Professional career[edit]

Sears was selected 28th overall in the second round of the 2024 NWSL Draft by Racing Louisville FC. She reported for training camp on January 24th, 2024.[11] Sears signed a one-year contract with Racing Louisville on March 4, 2024. The deal included a mutual option for the 2025 season.[12] Sears made her professional debut in a 2–2 draw against the Orlando Pride on March 16, 2024 and scored her first professional goal in a 5–1 win over Utah Royals FC on April 20, 2024.[13]

Personal Life[edit]

Sears has a twin sister, Bronwen, who played collegiate soccer for Miami University.[14]
