Eric Keith (born Eric Keith Farmer; 1973) is an American former actor, producer, businessman, and entertainment executive.[1] He is the co-founder and chief content officer of SPACEMOB and a member of the Producers Guild of America (PGA) and the Academy of Television Arts & Sciences. Keith is a PrimeTime Emmy Awards voter and has served as a Judge for the Television Academy Honors and Daytime Emmys.

Early life and education[edit]

Born on October 04, 1973, in Olathe, KS, Keith was raised with his brother, Greg Farmer, by his parents in his hometown. He graduated from Olathe South High School in 1992, and then went to Lincoln Christian University where he later received a BA degree. Following college, he started pursuing a career in acting while supporting himself by performing at theatres across the country and working with several non-profit organizations.

Keith attended the theatre and film departments of The University of Kansas and also studied independent producing, film marketing, and distribution at UCLA. He also received executive certificates from Harvard Business School in the business of entertainment, sports, and media (BEMS), and in disruptive strategy with Clayton Christensen. In addition, Keith studied management at Harvard Extension School and received a business foundations specialization certificate from the University of Pennsylvania Wharton School. He also holds a bachelor's in arts from Lincoln Christian University.

Career[edit]

Actor[edit]

Keith began his acting career at the Actors Theatre of Louisville, and then traveled to Los Angeles, New Orleans, and New York performing in plays, movies, and television series.In 2003, he retired from acting and shifted his focus to production, direction, and writing.

Producer[edit]

After retiring from acting, Keith began his career as a producer and worked on his first movie, Forget Me Not, as an executive producer in 2009. The movie was ranked number 01 horror film on iTunes for 6 weeks, number 02 on Redbox, in rotations on Showtime, and won the Best Horror Film Award at the Hollywood Reel Film Festival. Keith is also the executive producer of a documentary series based on the struggling girls in middle America Girl Unscripted. The series has been shot for the last 15 years and will be released in the winter of 2023 on PBS National Broadcast. Girl Unscripted is the winner of 98 awards at several film festivals worldwide.

Member of PGA, Television Academy, and Primetime Emmys voter since 2016, Keith has produced over 100 episodes of television originals. He has also produced ten feature films, including the psychological thriller Leave Yourself Alone (released by Virgil Films domestically), Jedi Junior High (distributed by MarVista Entertainment and signed to a Worldwide Netflix deal), and award-winning filmmaker Matt Hinton's Parallel Love (released theatrically by Abramorama, and winner of several film festivals).

Businessman[edit]

In 2002, Keith started Red Echo Group, a non-profit focused on education and advocacy of filmmaking for young people, and since, he has been serving as the executive director and board member. He then co-introduced Capstone Entertainment Group with writer and producer David Huffman in 2004. Capstone has developed, financed, and produced several films and TV series. As of 2023, Keith is the managing partner of the Capstone Entertainment Group.

Keith co-founded a video production studio SPACEMOB in 2016 and served as its president until 2020. The company initially focused on digital publishers, including Dow Jones, The Wall Street Journal, The New York Times, and others. Since SPACEMOB began working with streaming media in 2019, Keith has been working as the chief content officer and executive producer of the company.

Personal life[edit]

Keith lives in Kansas City with his wife, Leigh Walker Quarles, and two children. Both his parents are retired, and his brother is the executive editor of the Kansas City Star.
