Farah Ramzan Golant is an English media executive.
Early and personal life[edit]
Ramzan Golant was born in Nairobi, Kenya to an Asian family, and moved to Britain when she was five. She graduated with a joint honors degree in modern languages from Emmanuel College, University of Cambridge. She resides in London with her husband[1].
Career[edit]
AMV BBDO[edit]
Ramzan Golant started her career at Abbott Mead Vickers BBDO, Britain’s biggest advertising agency, rising through its ranks to become its Chief Executive and Executive Chairman, and member of the BBDO Worldwide Board. During her tenure, the agency created iconic campaigns for clients including, British Telecom, EDF Energy, The Economist, General Electric, Mars, Mercedes, and Starbucks[2].
All3Media[edit]
After two decades at AMV BBDO, where she was considered a “lifer”[3], Ramzan Golant joined All3Media, as CEO. While there, she expanded its presence and production capability in the US with the launch of All3Media America. In 2014, she led the strategic sale of the group (valued at $930M)[4] to a joint venture between Liberty Global and Discovery Communications.
Girl Effect[edit]
In 2015 Ramzan Golant was appointed the first CEO of Girl Effect, a non-profit founded by the Nike Foundation in collaboration with United Nations Foundation and NoVo Foundation to promote positive economic and social change for girls globally. As CEO, Ramzan Golant integrated new technologies to benefit highly isolated girls in hard-to-access communities[5], and powered innovations, such as media brands for social change in Ethiopia, Rwanda, Malawi, Nigeria and India[6]. This approach has been recognized by governments and institutional philanthropists[7] as an effective model for empowering girls to improve their lives.
Kyu[edit]
Ramzan Golant joined creative collective kyu in 2018[8] with oversight of its European operations, rising to president in 2021.
Philanthropy and advocacy[edit]
Ramzan Golant has served on the boards of global private companies, academic institutions, and arts institutions, and is currently a Trustee of Prince’s Trust International[9] and Young Vic Theatre.
Awards and honors[edit]
In recognition of her services to advertising, Ramzan Golant was awarded CBE (Commander of the British Empire) in 2011[10], and was named Business Woman of the Year 2010[11] by the Asian Women of Achievement. Between 2013 and 2015, she was appointed to serve on the UK Prime Minister’s Business Advisory Group[12], a body that advised the PM and senior ministers on critical business and economic issues facing the UK. In that time, Ramzan Golant was also Britain’s Business Ambassador for the Creative Industries.
