Farid Novruzi — (Azerbaijan: Fərid Əlibəy oğlu Novruzi‎) - the head of the NOVCO Group of Companies[1], the president of the Azerbaijan Beach Soccer Federation and a traveler-alpinist.[2]

Early life[edit]

Farid Alibey oglu Novruzi was born on February 24, 1977 in Baku. He is the son of the famous architect, the honored architect of the Republic of Azerbaijan, Alibey Novruzi. Farid Novruzi graduated from school No. 150 in 1993. In the same year, he was admitted to the Faculty of Architecture at the Azerbaijan University of Architecture and Construction, and in 1998 he received a bachelor's degree. In 2000-2002, he received an MBA degree at Western University in Baku. He is married and has seven children.

Career[edit]

In 1994, Farid Novruzi established NOVCO LLC, the company was related to his architectural activity. In 1999, he founded NOVCO Trade and opened his first fashion store in Baku. Currently, this group of companies has more than 50 stores in Azerbaijan, Georgia, Türkiye and Uzbekistan. Since 2008, he has been the president of the Azerbaijan Beach Football Federation. Since 2022, he is the chairman of the board of the Azerbaijan Retail Clothing Importers Association (AFRA).

Travel[edit]

Farid Novruzi has been actively traveling since 2010 and has visited nearly 100 countries as a traveler. He is the only person from Azerbaijan who traveled 60,000 km around the world without an airplane. This two-stage journey took place in 2020 and 2021 during the pandemic. The trip lasted 158 days covering 6 continents and 40 countries. A ship, bus, and car were used as transportation. In November 2022, Farid Novruzi presented his book "Noah's Ark" about this journey (ISBN: 9789952563092). The book tells about exciting and unexpected adventures that happened to him during his world travel.[3]

Farid Novruzi is also a climber. He has been on more than twenty summits in total. The highest altitude he climbed is in the mountains of Uyano Potosi in Bolivia - 6,088 meters. In second place is Mount Kilimanjaro at 5,895 meters, Kala Patthar at 5,550 meters in Nepal, Ilnitze Norte at 5,140 meters in Ecuador, Ağrıdag at 5,167 meters in Turkey. Since 2020, he is also the deputy chairman of the Association of Tourism Bloggers of Azerbaijan.
