Felix Isaac Soares (Hebrew: פליקס סוארס) (Arabic:فيلكس سوارس) was an Egyptian Jewish businessman (1842 - 1906), whose name appeared The Sawaris family in Egyptian economy and political work at the beginning of the nineteenth century, he was born in Egypt 26 Tayyib in the year 5603 , corresponding to December 29, 1842, and he died in 1906 . His contributions occurred in establishing The Egyptian Real Estate Bank which is still in existence today, and it is the second oldest bank in Egypt, in addition to many Egyptian companies.[1][2][3][4][5][6][7][8][9][10][11][12][13][14]

Felix was born to a family of 5 brothers, all of whom contributed fully to the Egyptian economy. His father died in 1848 , the eldest of whom, “Mardach,” died in 1861 , and his brother, “Jacob,” died in 1865 , and “Youssef.” In 1900 , their sister in 1902 , and his brother “‘Al-Hammam Al-Wajih’” in 1905 . As for Raphael Soares in 1930 AD, Felix built a large empire in the economy and political work with his wife’s family and Roulo’s family. Felix's brother Mordach shared trade with Ibrahim Shamma is the father of Marketo Shamma, and it is a family She was also Jewish. When Mardakh died in 1861 , he married Mrs. Rakita, daughter of Aslan Bey Qatawi, after that year, and he had four boys and five girls.[15][16]

His contributions[edit]

Felix began his commercial activity with his brothers in shaping the Egyptian economy. In 1872, he founded “Sawaris, Nahman and Partners Shop in Egypt” in partnership with “Enrico Nahman” and his brother-in-law “Jacques Qatawi”. 1876 They were joined by the Rouleau family, and the name of the shop remained as it was, and in that year they established a shop in It was founded in 1882 under the name “The House of the Sawaris Brothers and Their Partners”, while keeping the store of Sawaris and Nahman in Egypt as it was. In 1886, the two stores were merged into one store called “‘House of the Sawaris Brothers and Their Partners’,” and the Alexandria store remained as it was as well. The activity of the Sawaris family was not limited to establishing commercial stores, but rather in establishing beneficial companies. He founded the “Al-Ahlia Company” in 1876 as the first company in Egypt in the form of a “broker’s bank,” but it was liquidated in 1877 when Liquidating the Egyptian government’s debt with huge profits for all its shareholders. In 1880 , he founded with his brother Rafael Soares and his partners from the Qatawi family The Egyptian Real Estate Bank which still exists to this day. In 1882 , he established the Fabrica Sugar Company in Hawamdiya. In 1888 , he founded the company Helwan Railway and was then entrusted with the establishment of Helwan Casino Teatro and he was the reason for the establishment of the Maadi suburb. In 1890 , he founded the railway company from Assiut and extended the line to Girga, and extended railway lines from Damanhour to Al-Rahmaniyah, and from Shebin Al-Kom to Manouf, and from Fayoum to Sinorus, and was handed over to the Egyptian government after its completion, with the condition that he benefit from the company’s profits for 20 years. In 1891 , he bought the inspection (company) of Sheikh Fadl from the Sunni Department.In 1892 , he founded the Sugar Company and included in it the companies of Al-Hawamdiya, Sheikh Fadl, and Nag Hammadi, then he bought the inspection of Al-Badarsheen from the Domain Authority in 1894 . In 1895, he established the Upper Egypt Irrigation Company and later sold it to the Sugar Company, and the railway was extended from Qena to Aswan in the same year.

In 1896 , the “Economic Eastern Railway Company” was established and made several contributions to the extension of railway lines throughout Egypt. It was then sold to the “Delta Railway Company” and merged with the “Helwan Railway Company”. '. In 1896 , he established the “Real Estate Company” and included the Badrashin inspection, which was one of his properties. In 1897, he established the Water Company Tanta similar to today's water companies, and gifted it to the Egyptian government. In 1898, he established the Sunni District Company, which bought all the lands of the Sunni District with the Qattawi family, and in the same year he established the National Bank company, which was the first bank in Egypt, from which the Agricultural Bank branched out in 1902 .[17][18] He is credited with founding the “Dog Hospital” in Egypt as the first hospital for dogs located in the Zeinham area currently and others, and he is the president of the “Italian Charitable Company” and others. Felix was known, unlike his family, for his generosity towards charitable schools Israeli and others, and for spending on the poor and distributing gifts to them, in addition to the monthly salaries that he donated to a large number of homes, thus improving their conditions and making them live well. The establishment of Helwan Steel Company after its merger with the Delta Steel Company is considered the greatest credit for the establishment of several suburbs in which Helwan, Maadi, Tora and [[] districts were established. Medals and his death[edit]

Felix received medals of honor and pride from the Kingdom of Britain, and he died in 1906 after a long history of contributing to the Egyptian economy and building the Suaris Empire.[19]
