A fever dream is a distinctive dream caused by a high body temperature, which is typically confusing, unpleasant, vivid and frightening. Fever dreams are very different from normal dreams, but somewhat reminiscent of nightmares. There is little scientific evidence as to why they occur. Doctors and scientists know that fever dreams are linked to elevated body temperature, but there is not much information about why temperature affects the brain in this way.[1][2][3][4][5][6][7]
