From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

The First National Bank of Elizabeth in Elizabeth, Colorado began operations on July 2, 1906.[1] Articles of incorporation had been filed at the beginning of June 1906 as the First National Bank of Elbert County.[2]

The members of the bank met in Denver, Colorado on June 21, 1906 to elect officers, formally appointing Lee Ramsey as president, George L. Hames as vice president, and B.U. Jamison as cashier.[3] In addition to Ramsey, Hames, and Jamison, F.P. Murray and Peter Blumer were listed on the paperwork.[2] The initial capital stock for the bank was invested in U.S. bonds.[3]

The bank issued its first $10 banknote on July 27, 1906.[4]

The Elbert County Tribune reported that the bank purchased a corner lot south of the Elizabeth Hotel for $300 in October 1906.[5] According to the plaque placed on the building, it was built in 1907.[6] The bank did not officially move into the building until the week of January 26, 1908.[7] It originally operated out of the Fearnow block.[1]

It was listed on the National Register in March, 2023.
