History[edit]
Gross Schechter Day School was founded in 1980 as the Jewish Day School Association of Cleveland[2]. The first class featured only kindergarten and first grade, but other classes were soon added. As the student body continued to grow, the school moved to the Greenview School in South Euclid, OH where it was renamed Solomon Schechter Day School of Cleveland. In 1992 the school relocated to the Malvern School in Shaker Heights, OH, adding a pre-school wing. In August of 2002 the school opened a brand new campus in Pepper Pike, OH, changing its name to Gross Schechter Day School.
Signature Events[edit]
Gross Schechter has an annual celebration for Lag B'Omer called "Ignite the Night". In 2023 it was headlined by the a capella group Six13[3] and in 2022 the event featured Jewish rapper Kosha Dillz[4].
