Helen Bauer is an English comedian, writer and actor who began her stand up career in Berlin, Germany.[1] She was nominated for the Edinburgh Comedy Awards Best Newcomer in 2019.[2] She Co-hosts the "Trusty Hogs" podcast with fellow comedian Catherine Bohart.[1]

Early life[edit]

Bauer is the middle of three children born to Ann and Michael Bauer[1][3][4]. She grew up in Fleet, Hampshire[5]. Her mother ran a drama school from their home, which Helen attended[3][4]. Her father worked in the water industry.[4]

Career[edit]

Bauer moved to Germany at 23 and began her stand-up career there.[1] She first came to prominence when she was nominated for the BBC New Comedy Award in 2018.[6][7]

In 2018, she shared a bill at the Pleasance Dome during the Edinburgh Fringe Festival.[8] She debuted her first hour-long show, "Little Miss Baby Angel Face", at the Edinburgh Fringe Festival in 2019 and was nominated for the Best Newcomer award.[2][7][9] Her subsequent shows have included "Madam Good Tit"[10] and "Grand Supreme Darling Princess" in 2023.[11][12]

Bauer has appeared on Extraordinary[13], Live at the Apollo,[14] the Emily Atack show[15] and Hypothetical.[16][17] She created and starred in a sitcom pilot, "Small Doses", for BBC Three.[18]

Bauer co-hosted the "Daddy Look at Me" podcast with Rosie Jones.[19] She currently co-hosts the "Trusty Hogs" podcast with fellow comedian Catherine Bohart.[1][20]
