Herman Tsui Fai Lum (November 5, 1926 – January 26, 2009) was a justice of the Supreme Court of Hawaii from January 28, 1980 to March 31, 1993, serving as chief justice from April 26, 1983 to March 31, 1993.[1][2]

Prior to serving as chief justice, Lum's former positions included: associate justice of the Hawaiʻi Supreme Court, senior judge of the Family Court, circuit judge of the First Circuit, United State attorney, chief clerk and chief attorney of the Hawaiʻi State House of Representatives, and assistant public prosecutor.[2]

Lum served as U.S. attorney for Hawaii in 1961 after being appointed by President John F. Kennedy. He served as a state Circuit Court judge before being appointed to the state Supreme Court in 1980.[1]

Lum died in Honolulu at the age of 82, following a lengthy illness.[1]
