Honored doctor of Ukraine — state award of Ukraine, honorary title of Ukraine, which is appointed by the President of Ukraine in accordance with the Law of Ukraine "On State Awards of Ukraine", according to the Regulation on honorary titles of Ukraine dated June 29, 2001.

History[edit]

The title was introduced under the Soviet government in accordance with the Decree of the Presidium of the Verkhovna Rada of the Ukrainian SSR "On Honorary Titles" dated September 26, 1944 and was called "Honored Doctor of the Ukrainian SSR".

The title has been awarded since the declaration of Ukraine's independence in 1991 as "Honored Doctor of Ukraine".

The honorary title "Honored Doctor of Ukraine" is awarded to doctors of healthcare and social welfare institutions and institutions for significant successes in medical practice, training of highly qualified medical staff (clause 9 of the Regulations on Honorary Titles of Ukraine).
