Hotma Sitompul is a figure lawyer from North Sumatra who is quite well known because he has handled several cases of artists in Indonesia. He is a figure who was born on November 30, 1965[1]. Hotma is an alumnus of Gadjah Mada University who is studying law. Hotma is also known as the stepfather of Bambang Reguna Bukit and the sibling of Ruhut Sitompul.
Achievement[edit]
Hotma was once a staff of Legal defense fund which was led by a senior lawyer, namely Adnan Buyung Nasution. In 2002, Hotma founded his own LBH, which was named Mawar Saron. LBH was established to provide justice and legal assistance to the poor, weak and legally illiterate.
Currently, Hotma also has its own law firm called Hotma Sitompoel & Associates[2].
Cases[edit]
The murder of a little girl in Bali was one of the cases handled by Hotma. This case really attracted public attention at that time. The case of the murder of a little girl in Bali in 2015 was one of the cases handled by Hotma. In that case, Hotma was Magriet's attorney against Hotman Paris, who at that time was the attorney for the victim's housekeeper, Agus.[3]
Furthermore, in 2013 Hotma also became a lawyer who handled a drug case by Raffi Ahmad and in 2019, Hotma also handled a civil case by Baim Wong with Astrid's QQ Production. In 2022, Hotma also attracted quite a lot of public attention because she became a lawyer in the case of Domestic violence committed by Rizky Billar against Lesti Kejora. In this case, Hotma replaced his cousin, Adek Erfil Manurung, as the lawyer who defended Rizky Billar[4].
Controversy[edit]
Hotma Sitompul became the public spotlight when she became Rizky Billar's lawyer regarding the domestic violence case. This was due to his divorce case with Desiree in 2021. In this case, Hotma reportedly kicked Desiree out and fought over land rights and house repairs with Desiree. However, in the end they divorced and the dispute ended peacefully[4].
