Jairo Nicolás Martínez Fernández (born Jairo De Jesús Martínez Fernández, 11 February 1955)[1] is a Colombian Television Personality, Talent Scout, Public Relations Professional and TV Host.[2][3] He is best remembered for his work as a judge in the TV show Yo Me Llamo.

Career[edit]

Martínez was born in Cartagena.[4] In the 1990s he would become an advisor to Shakira at the time of her transition to the American market.[5] He moved to the United States for some time where he was a talent scout for Stefan Enterprises.[6] Martínez entered politics when he was elected as Member of the House in 2002 as representative of Colombian expats.[7] Starting in 2011 he was a judge for three seasons in the TV show Yo Me LLamo,[8][9] in which he would had several clashes with one of the other judges, Amparo Grisales.[10]

Martínez would become the host of several regional TV shows such as Hoy Es el Día[11] and Entre Amigos.[12]

In 2023 he received the Ibero-American Personality of the Year award by the Organización de Periodistas (OPI).[13]

Personal Life[edit]

Martínez has three siblings.[14] He has a sense of fashion for sunglasses, according to Elpunto.[15]
