James E. Stamps (March 6, 1890 - October 30, 1972) was an organizer of the Association for the Study of Negro Life and History (ASALH) and worked at Half-Century Magazine for Anthony Overton.[2]

Stamps was born in Marlin, Texas.[2] He graduated from Fisk University.[3]

Stamps married Georgia Morrow October 4, 1916. They had two children, James Jr. and Georgia. They divorced and Stamps married Maurice Williams in 1920.
