Jeyvi Miavivululu (born February 7, 1990) is a Belgium-born,[1] naturalized Swiss professional basketball player [2]. At a height of 2.01 m (6'7") tall, and a weight of 102 kg (225 lbs.), he can play at the power forward and small forward positions.

Early life[edit]

Miavivululu was born in the Belgian capital Brussels in 1990 and then moved to Lausanne in Switzerland. His parents; Virginie Miavivululu and Jean-Marie Miavivululu[3]; are both from the Democratic Republic of Congo. He has two sisters and one brother. He lived in the city of Lausanne and played both soccer and basketball. At the age of 13 years old, he decided to take basketball seriously and played for the BBC Epalinges for Coach Anne-Catherine Cordier.[4]

High school (2007-2010)[edit]

After regular school time, he moved to the USA, where he attended Paterson Catholic High School in the city of the same name in New Jersey. At Paterson Catholic, He played both Football and Basketball.[5] In Basketball, he became second-team all-BPSL [6]while also becoming all-BPSL in football. He played his AAU ball for the New Jersey Roadrunners, New York Gauchos and the New Jersey Playaz. In 2009/10 he attended Avon Old Farms Prep School in Avon, Connecticut. After receiving scholarships offers in both sports, he decided to commit to the Felician University Men's Basketball team in Rutherford, New Jersey.

College (2011-2016)[edit]

He attended Felician University[7] and played a total of 75 games from 2013 to 2015. He scored an average of 13.83 points and in his final season he averaged 14.35 points in 26 games. After a long collegiate career, he became an all-time top 10 leader in points[8], rebounds and blocks.[9]

Professional career (2016-present)[edit]

After college, in March 2016, Miavivululu moved back to Switzerland [10]to play for Union Neuchâtel in the Nationalliga A.[11] In the 2015/16 season, he made 13 appearances. The following season, he made five appearances at Union Neuchâtel [12]before moving[13] to BC Winterthur.[14] after one season, In the Eulachstadt[15], head coach Mitar Trivunovic [16]was positively surprised by Miavivululu's performance.[6] In 2018, Miavivululu was called up[17] for the Swiss national basketball team [18]for the first time in a game against Slovakia.[19] From 2019 to 2021, Jeyvi Miavivululu played for the New York Underdogs in the American Basketball Association. He then joined the Lehigh Valley legends of The Basketball League (TBL) in 2022-2023[20], to then play for the Tri-State Admirals in the TBL. In 2024, He joined the Basel Starwings in the Swiss Basketball League.

Off the court[edit]

In 2019, He founded NGU Basketball with the goal to grow the Basketball community and help the youth learn about the game. His mission is to reach, teach and help players maximize their full potential playing Basketball. His program includes NGU Basketball academy where he teaches, develops, organizes and offer youth players (7-17 years old) the opportunity to learn the fundamental skills of basketball while instilling life-lessons and values such as character, team work, discipline, respect and sportsmanship.[21]
