Jimmy John's Pipin' Hot Sandwiches is an American hot dog and sandwich shop located in West Chester, Pennsylvania. It was founded in May 1940 by Jimmy John, a local of the area, after six other failed ventures.[1] Situated along Wilmington Pike, it is the oldest business still running along the highway. The location has seen numerous improvements and additions over the past decades, including adding indoor dining in 1973. In 2010, on the day of their 70th anniversary, a fire destroyed much of the building, forcing closure.[2] It was rebuilt and opened the following year, where it is still operating as of February, 2024. The restaurant is also known for its many electric trains, which are coin-operated.
They are not affiliated with the Jimmy John's sandwich chain, which was founded in 1983.
