Josephine Namakumbi is a Ugandan Female Journalist, a News Anchor and Reporter who has worked with several Uganda's media houses since 2018. She is currently working with Uganda's leading Private Media house NBS Television where she is the face of NBS Amasengejje, a primetime luganda News Bulletin.

Background and Education[edit]

Born on October 24th in the late 1990s in Gayaza, Wakiso, Josephine was raised in the same region where her mother and father reside. She attended several primary schools before joining Highfield Primary School in Gayaza where she completed her Primary Leaving Examinations.

Josephine joined Highfield High School, later rebranded into Katikamu Secondary School in Gayaza for her secondary education. Subsequently, she sat for her Uganda Certificate of Education exams in 2012 at Katikamu SDA Secondary School in Wobulenzi.

She later returned to Katikamu Secondary School in Gayaza, which is currently known as Gayaza Adventist Secondary School, It is here that she attained her Uganda Advanced Certificate of Education in 2014.

In July 2016, Josephine started persuing her Bachelor's Degree in Journalism and Mass Communication at Makerere University, later graduating in 2020.

Career[edit]

Since 2018, Josephine has been a News Anchor and Reporter with NBS TV. Her exceptional talent in reporting and anchoring Luganda news at the Media Challenge competitions in 2017 introduced her to the national stage where she got popular for representing Makerere University at the awards. She immediately joined Uganda Broadcasting Services (UBC)'s Star TV as a News Anchor and Reporter where she gained valuable experience and she worked with several emerging media outlets that saw her enrich her career and proffession.

Josephine's career and work as a reporter caught the world's attention when she was among the journalists battered by Uganda People's Defence Force's Military police on 21st Febraury 2021.She and her colleagues were covering National Unity Platform's president Bobi Wine and team who were submitting a human rights petition to the United Nations Commission on Human Rights offices in Kololo. She was beaten badly and developed a spine complication that she battles upto date[1][2][3][4][5][6]

Achievements[edit]

Josephine's outstanding career in Media has won her several awards including Uganda Media Women Association's 2023 most resilient female media personality of the year.

Josephine Namakumbi is married to Mr Motoy Asaph Musan since July 2023.[7][8]
