KCCNJ stands for Korean Community Church of New Jersey. KCCNJ is a methodist church located at 147 Tenafly Rd, Englewood, NJ 07631, United States.

History[edit]

The Korean Community Church of New Jersey (KCCNJ) has a rich history that began on Thanksgiving Sunday in November 1972 when 15 founding members, led by Pastor Hae-jong Kim, held their first worship service at 430 Main St., Fort Lee Bethany Church. In January 1973, services continued at Christ United Methodist Church in East Rutherford, NJ, before moving to Teaneck UMC in June 1974. KCCNJ became an official member of the United Methodist Church of America in September 1977, marking its establishment within the wider Christian community.

The church prioritized bilingual education and services in June 1984 to cater to the second generation of Korean Americans, emphasizing both Korean and English languages. Under the leadership of founding Pastor Hae-Jong Kim and subsequent pastors, the church embarked on various initiatives, including the planning and construction of new temples and engaging in international missions.

Significant milestones include the church's 20th anniversary in 1998, the purchase of a new temple in Englewood, and the launch of diverse cultural and spiritual programs such as after-school programs, a choir performance at Carnegie Hall, and extensive mission work. The church also undertook major temple expansion and renovation in 2012, further solidifying its presence and service to the community. By July 2018, KCCNJ launched a new English congregation to serve second-generation college youth and seniors, demonstrating its continuous adaptation and growth. The 40th anniversary in 2022 was celebrated with outdoor worship and a sports competition, reflecting the church's vibrant community spirit.
