Early Life[edit]

Kaviya Kalanithi Maran was born on November 3, 1991, in Chennai, Tamil Nadu, India. She is the daughter of Kalanithi Maran^[3], a prominent media mogul and the Chairman and founder of the Sun Group, and Kavery Maran^[4], a well-known businesswoman and CEO of the Sun TV Network. Kaviya comes from a family deeply involved in the media and entertainment industry.

Career[edit]

Kaviya joined the Sun Group, the conglomerate founded by her father, which is one of the largest media networks in Asia^[5]. She began her professional journey by overseeing operations of Sun TV Network and Sun Music^[5], among other FM channels under the Sun Group umbrella.

In 2018, she was appointed as the Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of Sunrisers Hyderabad^[5], the Indian Premier League (IPL) franchise owned by the Sun Group. Under her leadership, the team has seen both successes and challenges in the league.

In January 2024, Kavya was awarded the 'Face and Force Behind Sunrisers Hyderabad^[6]' at the Devi Awards^[7], in recognition of her significant contributions to the franchise.
