Early Life[edit]

Kaviya Kalanithi Maran was born on November 3, 1991, in Chennai, Tamil Nadu, India. She is the daughter of Kalanithi Maran[3], a prominent media mogul and the Chairman and founder of the Sun Group, and Kavery Maran[4], a well-known businesswoman and CEO of the Sun TV Network. Kaviya comes from a family deeply involved in the media and entertainment industry.

Career[edit]

Kaviya joined the Sun Group, the conglomerate founded by her father, which is one of the largest media networks in Asia[5]. She began her professional journey by overseeing operations of Sun TV Network and Sun Music[5], among other FM channels under the Sun Group umbrella.

In 2018, she was appointed as the Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of Sunrisers Hyderabad[5], the Indian Premier League (IPL) franchise owned by the Sun Group. Under her leadership, the team has seen both successes and challenges in the league.
