Koviloor is a suburban village at the west entrance of Karaikudi located at a distance of approximately 6kms from Karaikudi Municipality limit on the way from Madurai. This village has one of the oldest mutt in the country [1] and the Kotravaaleeswara Temple [1] here is a famous one in the state of Tamil Nadu. Being an architectural example of unique Chettinad style, many movie shootings will be happening in this place all over the year.

Koviloor is a village in the Karaikudi taluk of Sivaganga district, Tamil Nadu, India.
Demographics[edit]
According to the 2011 census, Koviloor had a total population of 4287 with 1203 males and 1225 females. The sex ratio was 1018. The literacy rate was 68.79.
Temples[edit]
There is a famous Kotravaaleeswarar temple which was built by King Veerasekara Pandiyan, it is believed to be more than 1000 years old. It is built based on dravidian architecture with 7 towers. The entire temple is a gift to watch as each and every statues and idols are treat for the eyes.
Koviloor Adheenam is one of the oldest mutt in the state, which is existing since 200 years old. This mutt will be played a major role in religious activities around the state especially in southern parts. [2]
