The Lambda Collective of Lesbians, Gays, and Transsexuals is a private association that works to defend the rights of lesbians, gays, bisexuals, and transgender people in the Valencian Community of Spain.

One group of activists, the Gay Liberation Movement of the Valencian Country (MAG-PV), existed previously in Valencia but dissolved in 1986. This was the same year the Lambda Collective was created, with divisions in Alicante and Castellón de la Plana.[2]

The legal discrimination and social marginalization of the LGBT community have not stopped, but the forms of activism to combat these issues have changed. The Collective continues to act against homophobia, fight for LGBT equal rights, conduct information and education campaigns on sexual identity and the prevention of sexually transmitted infections,[3] and support other associations and individuals. It also has a religious affairs division and a group for gay Christians.[4]

In 1990, the Positive Group was created within the collective, together with the Positive Gays of the Gay-Lesbian Organization of Catalonia, the Gay Hotsa of Bilbao and the COGAM of Madrid to launch a new movement to support HIV positive people gays who wanted to take into account their specificity, despite recognizing that AIDS can affect everyone and is not restricted to groups at risk.

Every year, since 1995, the Lamda Collective has organized the June 28th Awards,[5] known since 2002 as the Margarida Borràs Awards,[6] given to people or entities that distinguished themselves in defending the rights or improving the situation of the LGBT community.[7][8] In 2011, the prize was awarded to Rubén Sancho, for his career in defense of equality, to the Coordinator of Associations to Fight AIDS of the Valencian Community (CALCSICOVA)[9], and to Mónica Oltra and Sebastián Fontana, lawyers defending LGBT rights.[10]

The Lambda Collective is a member of the State Federation of Lesbians, Gays, Transsexuals and Bisexuals (FELGTB), the International Association of Gays and Lesbians (ILGA) since 1999,[11] the Coordinator of Associations Fighting HIV-AIDS of the Valencian Community (CALCSICOVA), the State Coordinator of HIV-AIDS (CESIDA), the Feminist Platform of the Valencian Country, the Popular Christian Communities of Valencia, the current We Are Church and Christian Networks, the Social Volunteering Platform of the Valencian Country, the Youth Council of Valencia, the Social Forum of Valencia, and the Council of Citizens of the Valencian Country.[12] In addition, Lambda has signed a collaboration agreement with the Ministry of Social Welfare, the Youth Council of the Valencian Community (CJCV), the Workers' Commissions of the Valencian Country (CCOO-PV), the General Union of Workers of the Valencian Country (UGT-PV), the Valencian Interunion, and the General Labor Confederation (CGT).[13]
