Leigh Timothy Johnstone (born 26 May 1988) is a British influencer[1], garden designer, author[2] and mental health campaigner, who goes by the name The Beardy Gardener[3][4]. He found success on Instagram, during the COVID-19 pandemic where he created popular videos based on his experience of mental health struggles, which encouraged people to start gardening in order to improve their own mental health. A former actor and theatre director he changed careers shortly after the pandemic where he said that it was gardening that had saved his life[5]. He has featured on the BBC gardening series Gardeners' World and has presented at several Royal Horticultural Society shows.
