Limp Wizurdz are an American punk band formed in Norman, Oklahoma, in 2012. They are a frequent performer in the Oklahoma City area music scene venues and have performed at Norman Music Festival over 10 times. Limp Wizurdz are known for their hectic and energetic live-performances.

History[edit]

Limp Wizurdz was formed in the City of Norman, a neighboring city south of Oklahoma City. All four members were childhood friends. The band's name is stated to have been influenced by Limp Bizkit[1].

In March of 2012 Limp Wizurdz released the Gary England EP, and began promoting themselves and booking live performances more often[2]. Producer Colton Jean was the principal producer during the early years of the band[3].

The compilation album 1603 was released in 2014, with rerecordings of songs from previous EPs. Several national tours followed, touring in the southwest and eastern United States; with notable appearances in Kansas, Texas, Wisconsin[4] and the Carlionas[5]. Lead singer Taylor Young also pursued side projects from 2015 to 2018 with local alternative rock bands as a drummer[6].

Limp Wizurdz were included in KOSU's top 25 songs of 2023[7]

Musical Style and live performances[edit]

Limp Wizurdz blends pop punk[8] and hardcore punk, and combines their sound with conversational interludes to form an identity considered unique among musical artists in Oklahoma and the southwestern United States. Limp Wizurdz are best known for effectively having a cult following locally, with concert-goers engaging with the band's chaotic and engaging DIY approach to live music[9]. Lyrics and interviews often tackle the ephemerality of youth and the spiritual zeitgeists that young people develop and later grow from. Several song's lyrics are inspired by the Television show Breaking Bad[10].
