Confessional Protestant denominations are conservative churches that subscribe to particular confessions of faith. They are considered a third church type,[1] other than liberal/mainline and evangelical.

Anglican[edit]

Confessional Anglicans adhere to the 39 Articles of Religion. They are often also Continuing Anglicans.

Baptist[edit]

Confessional Baptists adhere to the First or Second London Confession.

Lutheran[edit]

Confessional Lutherans adhere to the Book of Concord, the historic collection of Lutheran creeds and catechisms.

Presbyterian[edit]

Confessing Presbyterian denominations adhere to the Westminster Standards.

Continental Reformed[edit]

Reformed churches adhere to the Three Forms of Unity.

Dutch[edit]

German[edit]

Hungarian[edit]

Pan-Reformed[edit]

These denominations adhere to confessions from multiple traditions, or leave the particular confession of subscription to the discretion of the local church.
