The following is a collection of media–including novels, comic books, films, television series, and video games–that take place significantly or partially underwater, prominently feature maritime and underwater environments, and other underwater aspects from the nautical fiction genre incorporated with science fiction. The concept of "underwater science fiction" or "maritime science fiction" is considered to have first appeared with Jules Verne's classic 1870 novel Twenty Thousand Leagues Under the Sea.
