Maharaja Ajj Sarovar is a religious and historical Lake spread over 15 acres of land in ancient City of Kharar, District S.A.S Nagar Punjab, India. Along with this, there is also a historical temple, Chinta Haran Temple. During excavation inside lake Ruins (which dated back to 10th century) of ancient Hindu Temple were also found Maharaja Ajj Sarovar is believed to be built along this temple. It is popular that this temple and lake were built by the ancient king of India Maharaj Ajj, who was the grandfather of Shri Ram Chandra.
In 1926, Sub-Divisional Officer J.W. Fairlie, appointed in the Ropar sub-division of the then Ambala division (under which this area came under), had issued an order prohibiting boating and fishing in this lake because it Had religious and historical status.
Along with the project of beautification of the historical Ajj Sarovar by the Punjab Government, the construction of Shri Ram Temple by the residents of Kharar city under the supervision of Shri Ram Mandir Ajj Sarovar Development Committee is being carried out.
