Martin Cabrera (born February 17, 1971) is a Mexican-American businessman. He is the founder and CEO of Cabrera Capital Markets and Cabrera Capital Partners. Cabrera Capital is one of the largest Hispanic-owned financial services firms in the United States. Martin Cabrera is considered one of the most influential Latinos worldwide.[1]
Early life[edit]
Cabrera was born in Chicago, IL and raised in the Little Village neighborhood. He graduated from Bogan High School (Chicago, IL), earned a Bachelor of Science degree in Finance from Northern Illinois University, and studied at the London School of Economics.[2]
Career[edit]
In 2001, Cabrera founded Cabrera Capital Markets (CCM), a leading investment bank and institutional brokerage firm that serves a diverse set of clients including global corporations, pension funds, private equity firms, and city and state governments. In 2007, Cabrera founded Cabrera Capital Partners (CCP) which provides commercial and residential real estate development expertise, investment, and consulting services to a full range of clients in the public, private, institutional, and non-profit sectors.[3]
Philanthropy & Community Involvement[edit]
Cabrera is a well-known leader in Chicago’s philanthropic sector. Cabrera currently serves as Chairman of the Board of Trustees at St. Ignatius College Prep, Board Member at World Business Chicago, Board Member at Chicago Community Trust, Member of the Archbishop’s Finance Council and Chairman of the Real Estate Committee for the Archdiocese of Chicago, Member of the Civic Committee at the Commercial Club of Chicago, Board Member at Latino Donor Collaborative, Board Member at Children First Fund. He formerly served as the Chairman of the Chicago Plan Commission as well as the Chairman of the City Colleges of Chicago.[3] Cabrera is also a member of the Hispanic Star Delegation and represented the organization at the 2024 World Economic Forum in Davos, Switzerland. [4]
In 2021 Cabrera formed a community partnership between Cabrera Capital Markets and Lee Elementary School of Chicago Public Schools to provide students with a comprehensive financial literacy program. The initiative educates K-8th grade students on the stock market, best practices for investing and saving, and how to work with their parents to initiate 529 college savings plans.[5]

Cabrera is married to Elizabeth Cabrera and has five children.
